My name is Roxia Bullock and I am a graduate of Animal
Behavior College where I earned my certification as an ABC Certified Dog
Trainer with honors. Animal Behavior College (ABC) is approved by the Bureau for Private
Post-Secondary and vocational education and is an internationally
recognized school. My year long commitment to this program has
provided me with a formal education in canine obedience training and
understanding behavior and its motives. My certification, education and
experience provide me with the skills required to train your dog through
positive reinforcement. Positive reinforcement has been scientifically shown to
be an effective and caring method of training dogs.
I have a passion for dogs and I know from first-hand experience the difference formal training makes in the relationship between dog and owner. Without professional training it can sometimes be a frustrating relationship, but with an investment in good training a wonderful transformation can occur. It gives me great satisfaction to see a happy dog and a happy owner.
I have been volunteering for many years in an animal shelter setting. It is so rewarding to see a shelter dog find their forever home. Part of that success is the training the dogs receive at the shelter to prepare them for their next adventure in their new home.
I come to this field with related experience. I was a teacher for many years in the New York City public school system. I then transitioned to the clinical field of psychotherapy with a Master’s in Social Work. The theory of Classical Conditioning/Operant Conditioning and Behavior Modification is familiar to me from that training. I believe this is an asset in dealing with dog owners and solidifying the relationship between them and their dog.
I have owned dogs since I was a child. My husband and I are the proud owners of 2 rescue dogs from the shelter where I volunteer. We live in Ossining, New York.
