Canine Life and Social Skills (C.L.A.S.S.)
I am involved in the Canine Life and Social Skills (C.L.A.S.S.) Program. I am an instructor and evaluator using the protocol of this program. The dogs are taught basic social skills needed to live successfully alongside their human companions. Canine Life and Social Skills is a wonderful 3-tiered educational program for the dog and their owner. The training focus is the use of positive reinforcement and to strengthen the relationship between humans and their canine companions. We use this program at the shelter and I work with people privately who want their dogs to learn these behavior skills and acquire earned degrees.
The 3-tiers are BA, MA, PhD. Each has a progressively more difficult set of skills to learn and a test to pass.
I have learned this program through study and at the shelter where I volunteer. It is so rewarding to see these shelter dogs pass their different levels of obedience training. Their training helps them adjust better when they find their forever homes. I, also, provide instruction privately for owners and their dogs to learn these behavior skills.
